Qualifications to become a Freemason

Camalodunum Crest

Every applicant must have a belief in the existence of a Supreme Being.

 - If you don't you would not go any further.

Camalodunum Lodge No. 660

A great way to make friends - Freemasonry promotes a way of life that binds like minded men into a worldwide Brotherhood that transcends all religious, ethnic, cultural, social and educational differences; by teaching the great principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth: and, by the outward expression of these, through its fellowship, its compassion and its concern, to find ways in which each may serve his God, his family, his country, his neighbors and himself.”

A masonic lodge does not look for members, the decision to become a Mason is your own.

  • If you are would like to join a lodge you have to look for the way to join - emailing the Secretary (email) is a first step. You may find that you know masons when you look into it - that makes it easier to join as they would recommend you.

What Is The Process To Join?

If you have decided that masonry may be for you the process in Camalodunum is to have an informal meeting with you where you feel most comfortable at your home for example. Assuming that all goes well and you decide you would like to join we would discuss the next steps - there is no rush to the process as it has to suit both the Lodge and the potential member.

    Governance Of The Masonic Order

The lodge heirarchy is similar to the government of the land - There is the United Grand Lodge which is like the parliament for the order and is the governing body for the world of masonry. Then there is a Province for the order which is like the county council  and then there is a lodge governed by these two.

The Province of Yorkshire North & East Ridings provides informatioin as well CLiCK HERE.

I have heard a lot about the way masons ......

The Truth is less exciting than you may see reported in other places. Masons have very high moral standards and covering up of illegal acts is not allowed. masons are not forced to comply with instructions against their own strict moral and religious beliefs.
